Clinical Lead - Acute Spinal Cord Injury Consultant Physiotherapist, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust

Hannah Farrell is the Clinical Lead & Consultant Physiotherapist in Acute Spinal Cord Injury at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The role is funded by NHS-E as part of the National SCI Transformation and Service review programme with a remit to establish a SCI Network Model of Care within the Midlands region. She commenced this role in September, 2023 having previously held the position of Therapy Lead in Major Trauma and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Neurotraumatology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham is one of the country’s 22 Adult Major Trauma Centres and is the Centre for Defence Medicine.
Hannah is currently the AHP Affiliate member of the NHS-E Clinical Reference Group for Major Trauma and Burns representing the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. One of Hannah’s key responsibilities as part of this group has been to review and further develop the concept of the Rehabilitation Prescription for Major Trauma and to develop the National Major Trauma Rehabilitation dashboard.

Hannah is passionate about delivering high quality clinical and rehabilitative care to individuals who suffer injuries following major trauma and neuro-trauma with specialist interests in acute Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury. She is committed to driving clinical care and service delivery forwards and influencing change.
Hannah is an active participant in the National Major Trauma Rehabilitation Group.
